Details: I am in deep legal trouble. I am bi-polar and have stolen from mymother, father, grandmother, and others. My family has forgiven me, but my bestfriend of 30 years did not. She filed a police report and I was arrested and amcurrently out on bail. She is reporting that I did identity theft on her andthat I stole $700 dollars. Some of the allegations are true but most of themare not. I have provided much proof to my attorney, but it feels as if thedetective is out to get me. My father is a retired 32 year veteran homicideinvestigator and was also the president of the Deputy Sheriffs Association.This detective handling my case has been on the police force for 2 and a halfyears. There are three huge packets of Discovery, but they all have the samepages over and over and make statements that are not substansiated. My friendclaims I used her credit card for a hotel which I provide the bill, statement,and letter from the general manager of the hotel stating nothing was ever usedor paid for by my friend. She states I rented two cars in her name that sherented and which were backed up by a statement froma mutual friend that waswith us. One of the largest claims is that she states my husband and Ipurchased a van in her husband and her name. The detective printed out a reportshowing all cars ever registered to us, no vans of that nature, but they arestill pursuing it. So many of the claims are invalid and when my attorney did adeposition on her and her husband, they flat out lied and also admitted tothings they previously said I did. For these charges they have made, I amfacing 3 felony charges! My bail was set at $25,000.00 due to the fact that myfriends husband said I was a flight risk! I have 4 children, one car which myhusband uses to go to work, am disabled, I just don't understand it. When I wasarrested and taken to be booked, I hada bail amount of more than 5 times theamount of others who stabbed people, domestic violence charges, holding guns topeoples head, etc. As I said, almost all the statements were unsubstansiatedalthough I did do some things. I opened a credit card in my friends name for$200 and used her name on an ebay account. Besides this, I have also beenunable to prove other charges because she knew my passwords and broke into myemail and erased EVERY email we had ever written to each other. In thedeposition, my attorney asked if they got into my email and they said noalthough they emailed me after I was arrested saying "how does it feel to beviolated? Getting into your email is Nothing, Nothing, compared to what youdid" Therefore they admitted it. They also admitted that I had their permissionto sign up the husband for Discovery Toys although one of the charges was thatI signed him up without his consent and that it was forgery. I don't knowasbout the legal system and can't afford a regular attorney. I have a publicdefender that I can never get a hold of. These charges make 3 felonies. I wastold that each felony could be 5 years in jail. As I said, I am bi=polar, havea husband and 4 children and am scared to the point that I have contemplatedsuicide. I don't want to go to jail and miss my children growing up, I lovethem too much. I couldn't stand being away from my husband and my entirefamily. I don't know what to do but pray. I am scared that God is not listeningbecause I have done what was wrong. I am truly sorry, have asked forforgiveness and have tried to completely walk away from this way of life. Thisis one of the first times in months I have been on the computer because I feelthat it would tempt me to do more wrong. I want to break the devil'sstrongholds in my life. I want to be whole. I want to be God's and only God's.I need and want help. I continue to pray but feel as if God is not listeningsince I have continued in this depressed, anxious, scared and paranoid statethis whole last year.
